Peter Tabichi
Peter Tabichi, a math and physics teacher from Kenya's famine-prone Rift Valley, was selected out of 10,000 teachers from almost 180 countries to win the Varkey Foundation Global Teacher Prize 2019, which includes US $1 million. He already donates 80% of his salary to local community projects, including his school. A Franciscan Brother, he started a Peace Club, and his students have won an award with the Royal Society of Chemistry and Kenya's National Science Fair, among others.
Malala Yousafzai
Malala Yousafzai is a Pakistani activist for female education and in 2014 became the youngest Nobel Prize laureate. She is known for human rights advocacy, especially the education of women and children in her native Swat Valley in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, northwest Pakistan, where the local Taliban had at times banned girls from attending school. Her advocacy has grown into an international movement.
Efren Peñaflorida - "Pushcart Educator"
